Mozambique and Kenya sign agreements – aimnews.org

Nairobi, 27 Mar (AIM) – The governments of Mozambique and Kenya, at the end of a working visit to Kenya by President Daniel Chapo, signed three agreements that aim to reinforce diplomatic training, cooperation in youth projects and prison services.

Legal instruments relating to youth projects include scholarships and exchange of sporting experiences.

According to Chapo, the results of his visit offered a vote of confidence in strengthening bilateral relations, with the aim of improving the lives of the people of both countries.

The President’s visit included the 3rd Session of the Bilateral Joint Commission, which made it possible to assess the stage of cooperation and the strengthening of political, economic and social ties. The agenda also included meetings with international investors at the 4th Kenya International Investment Conference.

Chapo highlighted the importance of joint investments to create jobs and improve quality of life. “Only in this way will we be able to create income for our people, opportunities for young people and improvements for the citizens of Kenya and Mozambique, guaranteeing food on the table for all families and better living conditions”, he stated.

The visit also allowed the consolidation of exchange programs for students and military cadets, with 65 Mozambicans attending Kenyan universities and five cadets at the Kenyan Military Academy, while six Kenyan students undertake advanced studies in Mozambique.

“With this exchange, we are shaping the future of our countries and our people”, he emphasized.

In the field of transport, Chapo recalled that there are currently five weekly flights between Nairobi and the city of Nampula, in northern Mozambique, and the two countries have mutual recognition of their driving licenses.

Chapo said he hoped flights between Nairobi and Maputo could resume soon.

The two countries also agreed to strengthen collaboration in the fight against terrorism. The visit ended with Chapo inviting his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, to visit Mozambique.
